Background
I started by exploring how students search for jobs and what they experience during the process. I conducted research and interviews with 46 students across Indonesia to learn about their habits, expectations, and challenges while looking for opportunities during university. The research revealed what students look for in a job, how they decide which opportunities to apply for, and where they often struggle when using existing platforms. From these insights, I explored ways to make the experience more relevant from the moment students enter the app. Instead of asking them to search through a long list of opportunities, I designed an onboarding flow where they can define their interests and preferences first. These preferences then shape the jobs they see on their home screen, making it easier to discover opportunities that feel relevant to them. After completing the design, I conducted usability testing with 15 participants using Maze across 8 scenarios. The testing achieved an overall usability score of 93%, and the findings helped me refine the flow and interactions before moving forward.

The biggest challenge was creating a job platform that feels useful for students without making them feel limited by their lack of professional experience. While some students may already have internships or part-time experience, others may be applying for their first opportunity. The experience needed to support both, while still giving companies enough information to understand each candidate. Another challenge was making job discovery feel personal without adding too much effort. Students should not have to repeatedly search and filter through opportunities that are unrelated to their interests. At the same time, they still need the freedom to explore different types of work and apply based on their own goals. Finding the right balance between guidance and freedom became an important part of the design.
JobCampus was designed around a more personalized job-search experience, starting with how students discover opportunities. During onboarding, students can define their interests and job preferences, allowing the platform to surface relevant opportunities directly on their home screen. Whether they are looking for an internship, contract position, or full-time role, students can explore opportunities that match what they are looking for. Students can also build a profile that includes their education, work experience, skills, documents, and certifications. This gives companies more context when reviewing an application and allows students to present themselves beyond a resume. During the recruitment process, students can also communicate directly with HR or the company through the platform. By bringing active students and career opportunities into one place, JobCampus creates a more focused way for students to take their first steps into the working world. Instead of navigating a broad job market from the beginning, students can explore opportunities within an environment designed around their stage, interests, and goals.
